This spring I am working on project living room. I finished my gallery wall, got a new rug, and now finished my new pillows! I love big comfy ones, and then decided to make a small accent pillow. I had some leftover burlap from an older project, and decided a monogram burlap pillow would be perfect.
You will need:
– Fabric paint
– Wooden letter or stencil
– Paint brush
– Thred, needle, and sewing machine.
Start by cutting your burlap to size. I wanted a smaller pillow since I was pairing it with my smaller ones so I cut mine 14inches by 14inches. Remember your pillow will be a little smaller than what you cut, I usually allow 1 inch on each side for the seem.
Next you will want to paint on your monogram. I used a wooden letter as a stencil that I had for another project I have not finished. If you have a stencil you could also use that. And if you are really daring just paint it on with out a stencil! My hand writing is way to bad to try that!
I painted the back of my wooden letter and firmly pressed it on my burlap and let it sit for a few second to make sure it got on evenly.
Make sure you separate the two pieces and place a towel under your burlap so your paint does not bleed through.
I used my paint brush to fill in any spots and make sure it looked even.
Wait till the paint is completely dry and then sew and stuff your pillow.
Sewing a pillow is so easy. You just turn your fabric inside out sew all sides together leaving a small opening for stuffing. Flip your pillow right side out, stuff, and sew up the small opening by hand!
If you have never sewed a pillow before you can find tons of DIY videos on youtube!
