It was just 4 short months ago we moved into our new house. I still LOVE it today as the day we moved in. Maybe even more =)
I have lots of fun decorating plans and a few small projects so I thought it would be fun to show you all the before and then watch it turn into my vision as I complete the projects.
This house had just turned a year old when we moved in so it really doesn’t need a lot of work. I just want to make it my own with my style of decor. I thought it would be fun to share the journey with you and show you the before, the progress, and one day the finished space. I don’t know about you, but I love taking a peak into peoples houses and getting design ideas and inspiration.
When we went house shopping the one thing I didn’t want and would’t even look at was split entry homes. I had it in my mind that I wouldn’t like it. Even though I didn’t have a real reason why. We had just seen two houses that we loved get sold and thought we would take our house off the market for a while. I had seen our house up for sale and even thought I loved everything about it and it would be the perfect size and price I didn’t even want to look because of the entry way! Well we came by casually on an open house after church and I fell in love. Everything about it including the split entry! And I still love it.
To get back on topic here I have a few little details so far I wanted to share. I got this mirror at hobby lobby and it was hanging in my living room at the old place. A mirror on the way out the door is a must so I thought this would be the perfect home for it in the new place. I had to add a little something else though and found an adorable little green wreath at Target. I just took white ribbon and taped it to the back. High tech I know.
I think it looks awesome though and added a little something.
I also love all the windows… during the day. I’m not a keep your windows open all night kind of mama, and I wanted to find a way that I could close them up at night without taking away from the light it let in during the day.
I found these curtains and rods at Target as well. I want to go with the black accents so I got the black rod. They open up and look great during the day and at night I can close them up!
I still need to find a paint color. Right now I just have what the builders painted. It’s not horrible, but just not what I really wanted. I found these curtains that I think will go with what every I decide on.
Simple so far but a great start! Make sure to stay turned for more reveals and watch the progress as we go!
Do you decorate your entry way? I love having the place our guest see first be beautiful!
