Fall is rolling in and summer time will soon be gone. If I’m being honest I’ll be happy to see the summer go. I enjoy getting outside more in the fall time! The weather is cooler and the park is so colorful! We decided to brave the heat one last time and had a ball making a Paper Bag Kite.
I ended up bring the material outside so we could enjoy the nice day and we parked it at a picnic table and had fun decorating our own kite. You don’t need a lot of material. Just a paper bag, string, craft stick, and crayons.
You can go as simple or fancy with the kite as you would like. Since we brought the materials with us outside we kept it pretty simple. The boys just used crayons and colored on their bag. If you want to go fancy get stickers or even streamer that can hang of the back of your bag.
What you need:
Paper lunch bag
Decor of your choice (crayons, markers, stickers, streams, ect.)
The How to:
First create and decorate! Use whatever material you have and let the kids get creative. My boys ended up just coloring a few lines and were ready to run with their kite!
Cut two small holes into the top of your bag. Tie string around one side of craft stick, and then feed the string out and back into the paper bag. Now tie the string around the other side of your craft stick.
Pull the string out so your craft stick is laying against the top of your bag.
Now hold on tight with your hand in the air and run! Watch your kite whip in the wind behind you!
My oldest had a blast running around with his kite. My youngest on the other hand insisted on dragging it around and calling the bag a dog.
